Humboldt City Administrator Aaron Burnett said most significant work on the Sumner Avenue Bridge is likely completed for the season. “We have met with WHKS, the engineering firm, and have talked to the contractor and the Iowa Department of Transportation. The specs require the surface concrete to be at 50 degrees and the ambient air to be above 40 degrees to pour concrete. “A lot of manhours have been put into the falsework and the last thing we want to do is have a repour because we didn’t meet specs when we’re talking about 800 cubic yards of concrete. We want it done once and done right,” Burnett told the council, about the bridge.
