The Humboldt man accused of two daylight robberies at local businesses last December appeared in Humboldt County District Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to two amended reduced charges. Kaleb A. Lenning, 20, of Humboldt, pleaded guilty to one count of theft in the first degree, a class C felony, and one count of extortion, a class D felony. The guilty pleas surround incidents that occurred in the city of Humboldt on Dec. 18, 2014. According to police and court documents, Lenning robbed the Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits store at 1011 13th Street North of an undisclosed amount of cash shortly after 10 a.m. Eyewitnesses at the scene report that Lenning displayed a hunting knife at the time of the robbery.
