Humboldt County fourth grade students celebrated Earth Day at the annual Humboldt County Outdoor Classroom recently. Held at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds, the event is put on by Humboldt County Conservation, Humboldt Soil and Water Conservation District, Natural Resources Conservation Service, City of Humboldt Parks Department and Humboldt Hy-Vee. About 150 fourth grade students from Taft Elementary. St. Mary School, Twin Rivers Elementary and Gilmore City-Bradgate Elementary arrived at the fairgrounds Events Center about 9:30 a.m. The group had a chance to learn about mammals, reptiles and raptors, honey bees and the importance of trees in our environment. Pocahontas County Conservation provided its Star Lab for students to view. The students also built their own birdhouse.
