Big 2nd half lifts Cardinals past Humboldt, 34-16

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura put together a big second half, aided by Humboldt turnovers, to gain a 34-16 victory over the Wildcats in non-district football at Garner on Friday night (Sept. 4).Humboldt led 16-7 at halftime as Drew Thomas scored on an 11-yard run and passed to Colton Monson for another score. Humboldt also scored on a safety.The Wildcats, now 0-2 on the season, begin district play at home on Friday, Sept. 11, when they host Boone. Worthington family gives back to Humboldt

Giving back by choice, not by chance, seems altogether natural and fitting for Humboldt’s Elizabeth Worthington and the Worthington family. After all, “I love Humboldt,” she proudly states. Worthington recently displayed her community generosity in a formal way by making sizable contributions to the Humboldt Friends of the Park Foundation, the Humboldt Family Aquatic Center, the Humboldt Public Library Foundation, the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) Foundation and the Humboldt Golf and Country Club. There was also a smaller amount apportioned to the River Development Group for trails in the community. HHS girls 1st, boys 3rd in Webster City cross country meet

Humboldt's girls won the team title and the boys were third in the Webster City Invitational cross country meet held on Tuesday, Sept 1, at Links Golf Course north of Webster City.It was the second straight team title for Humboldt in the meet. Gabby Kent ran second overall and Isabella Luu was third to pace Humboldt. McKennan Myott was ninth.The Wildcat boys were led by Ivan Rasmussen who was fifth overall.See full story in the Humboldt Independent Newspaper. Wildcat volleyball team sweeps Cougars in 3 sets

The Humboldt High School volleyball team swept the Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars in 3 sets on Sept. 1 in Manson. Humboldt posted winning scores of 21-15, 21-16 and 21-16.Humboldt went 5-1 in their own tournament on Saturday, Aug. 29. They beat Emmetsburg, Ogden, Fort Dodge, West Bend-Mallard and South Central Calhoun and lost to Spirit Lake.
