League champion Humboldt placed six athletes on the coaches' All-North Central Conference volleyball team. Wildcat head coach Justin McDaniel announced the post-season awards at the team's potluck dinner banquet held on Nov. 14 at the high school.
Humboldt rolled through the NCC competition with a perfect 7-0 match record. The Wildcats also finished 33-2 overall and were ranked in the top 10 statewide in Class 3A for most of the season. Their 2016 season came to an end in a loss to North Polk in a region final.
Humboldt's first-team all-conference picks include a trio of seniors in outside hitter Taylor Gidel, middle hitter Abby Zaugg and right-side hitter Olivia Hildreth. Zaugg, Gidel and Algona senior Maddie Miller were the only unanimous all-conference picks by the league coaches.
Representing Humboldt on the second-team is senior libero Beth Duffield and senior setter Kelsey Peters. Junior middle hitter Sydney Lane was chosen to the third-team.
