The Humboldt High football team got back on the winning track Friday night (Sept. 28) by drubbing Dallas Center-Grimes, 28-6 in a Class 3A District 2 contest in Grimes.
Joey Busse passed 27 yards to Caiden Baker for the Wildcats' first score and Jamison Heinz returned a punt 67 yards to give Humboldt a 14-0 halftime lead.
Heinz returned the second half kickoff 87 yards to make it 21-0. In the fourth quarter, Busse passed seven yards to Lucas Volf for a score with 7:08 left. Volf kicked all point-after attempts. DCG scored with 17 seconds left in the game to avoid a shutout on their homecoming night.
Humboldt returned to 2-4 overall, 1-1 in district play. DCG fell to 1-5 overall, 1-1 in district play. The Wildcats will travel to Webster City on Oct. 5 for another district clash.
