Humboldt High junior class athletes Matt Miller and Jamison Heinz both secured top eight finishes in their respective events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines this weekend.
Miller finished seventh overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.26 seconds. It was a personal record for Miller, who was second in his heat race. Darien Porter of Bettendorf was the winner in 47.99 seconds.
Humboldt's Jamison Heinz was eighth in the long jump on Friday, leaping 21-feet 4-inches.
The Humboldt girls were represented by Kendal Clark, who placed 19th in the discus with a throw of 114 feet.
Humboldt's 4x100 relay of Heinz, Cale Hundertmark, Tyler Vitzthum and Matt Miller ran a season's best time of 44.27 seconds and won their heat, but were later disqualified for an early handoff, according to meet officials.
Humboldt returns to action on Tuesday, April 30, in the Algona Relays. The Wildcats will host the North Central Conference meet on May 2.
