Miller 7th, Heinz 8th in Drake Relays

Humboldt High junior class athletes Matt Miller and Jamison Heinz both secured top eight finishes in their respective events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines this weekend.

Miller finished seventh overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.26 seconds. It was a personal record for Miller, who was second in his heat race. Darien Porter of Bettendorf was the winner in 47.99 seconds.

Humboldt's Jamison Heinz was eighth in the long jump on Friday, leaping 21-feet 4-inches.

The Humboldt girls were represented by Kendal Clark, who placed 19th in the discus with a throw of 114 feet.

Humboldt's 4x100 relay of Heinz, Cale Hundertmark, Tyler Vitzthum and Matt Miller ran a season's best time of 44.27 seconds and won their heat, but were later disqualified for an early handoff, according to meet officials.

Humboldt returns to action on Tuesday, April 30, in the Algona Relays. The Wildcats will host the North Central Conference meet on May 2.

Wildcat girls, boys win track titles at Storm Lake

Humboldt's dominance on the track continued on Thursday (April 25) as the Wildcat swept both the girls and boys team titles in the Storm Lake Relays.

Humboldt's girls totaled 176 points to run away from runner-up Storm Lake (108).

Humboldt's boys totaled 136 points to surpass Pocahontas Area (123) to win their meet.

The Wildcats girls will now prepare for the North Central Conference meet in Algona on Thursday, May 2. The Humboldt boys will run in the Bulldog Relays at Algona on April 30 before hosting the North Central Conference meet on May 2.

Humboldt girls top Fort Dodge golfers, 181-245

The Humboldt girls' golf team tuned up for next week's conference meet by handling Fort Dodge, 181-245 on May 2 at Fort Dodge Country Club. Frances Carlson shot a 44 to lead Humboldt and earn runner-up medalist honors.

Wildcat girls top CL, CGD in NCC golf
Humboldt took sole possession of the North Central Conference girls' golf dual race by topping Clear Lake and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Friday (April 26) in action at Clarion.

Humboldt, led by runner-up medalist Frances Carlson with a 45, finished with 196 total. Clear Lake had 198 while CGD finished with 216.

Wildcat girls post golf victory at Iowa Falls

Humboldt won a conference girls golf triangular at Iowa Falls on April 25, shooting a 178 total to down Iowa Falls-Alden (207) and Fort Dodge St. Edmond (218).
Humboldt’s Frances Carlson shot a 39 to win medalist honors with Kelly Boleyn runner-up medalist in shooting a 43.

Humboldt girls blank Webster City, 6-0

The Humboldt girls soccer team improved their record to 6-3 on the season by shutting out the Webster City Lynx, 6-0 on April 30 in Humboldt. Alexa Anderson scored four goals and Amber Westling had two to power the Wildcats.

Clark, Terwilliger in Drake Relays weight events

Humboldt High School track athletes Kendal Clark and Owen Terwilliger both placed 19th in their respective weight events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines Thursday evening.

Clark threw the disc 114-feet while Terwilliger hurled the shot 49-feet-5.

Wildcat boys win NCC golf triangular

Humboldt's varsity boys' golf team picked up a North Central Conference win Thursday evening in Fort Dodge, winning a triangular with Iowa Falls-Alden and Fort Dodge St. Edmond.

Humboldt finished with 173 strokes. IFA totaled 180 with St. Edmond third at 191. The win came two days after the Wildcats topped Gilbert, 164-165.

Humboldt hosts Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Friday.
