The Humboldt High girls' track team opened their outdoor season by placing second in the Clear Lake Early Bird Relays on Tuesday (April 2).
Humboldt won six events to score 152 points, finishing second behind Iowa Falls-Alden at 157.
The Wildcats' first-place finishes came from Kendal Clark in the discus (113-feet), Kailee Dettmann in the high jump (4-10), Bryce Gidel in the 3,000-meters (11:03.25), Claire Varangkounh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:16.37), Paige DeWinter in the 200-meters (28.13) and the shuttle hurdle relay of Jori Hajek, Dettmann, Kirstyn Beaman and Varangkounh in 1:10.8.
