Humboldt goes 5-0 to win Spencer volleyball tournament

The No. 13 ranked Humboldt High volleyball team won the Spencer tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14, after winning all five of their matches on the day.

Humboldt, 13-2 overall on the season, swept Cherokee (2-0), Spencer (2-0), Algona (2-0), Mason City (2-0) and Carroll (2-0) to win the title.

Wildcat volleyball team sweeps Algona
Humboldt improved to 8-2 overall, 2-0 in conference play by sweeping Algona in 3 sets Thursday night (Sept. 12) in Humboldt, 25-17, 25-11 and 25-22.

Humboldt gained two more non-conference victories by sweeping both Storm Lake (21-9, 21-1) and Manson-Northwest Webster (21-7, 21-12) in non-conference play at Storm Lake and Sept. 10.

The Wildcats will travel to Iowa Falls on Sept. 19 for another key conference match.

Wildcats fall to Cardinals in home opener, 27-7

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura's bruising ground game was too much for Humboldt Friday night (Sept. 6) as the Wildcat football team fell to the Cardinals, 27-7 in a non-district game at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt.

Jamison Heinz scored on a rushing play for the only Wildcat score of the night.

Humboldt, now 0-2 overall, will play host to Storm Lake in another non-district game on Sept. 13. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. after a ceremony honoring military members and veterans at 7:10 p.m.
