For the eighth straight year, Humboldt High School is the North Central Conference All-Sports champion.
Humboldt High activities director Greg Thomas made the announcement last week.

Just like the highly anticipated Iowa/Iowa State football game on Sept. 14, the 2019 version of the Cy-Hawk Rivalry on Sumner, Thursday, Sept. 12, promises something for everyone.
In its fifth year, the Cy-Hawk Rivalry will be two nights before the big game, Thursday, Sept. 12.
For the third time, Humboldt will be a stop for the RVTV crew from WHO, Channel 13.
The WHO RVTV crew will be arriving in Humboldt between 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. “We would like to have a big group of people downtown to welcome them to Humboldt,” Harklau said. “I have talked to Taft Elementary Principal George Bruder, and I think the elementary students from Taft will come to see the RVTV limo,” Harklau said. “They video tape their entrance for airing on one of their news segments.”
After RVTV arrives there will probably be a pep rally at the high school or middle school.

HCMH Foundation provides $1 million gift to building project

The Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced a gift of $1,000,000 over a 10-year period for the new conference room in the hospital (pictured here).

The Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced a gift of $1,000,000 to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital 2019 building project.
At the Foundation’s Aug. 22 meeting, Board member Larry Curran made a motion to make a 10-year, $1,000,000 pledge to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital 2019 building project. It was seconded by Bruce Watnem and all Board members approved.
The pledge represents the largest single gift ever given to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. The second largest gift to the hospital from the HCMH Foundation was $870,000 in 1995 for the “Continuing Our Caring Tradition” capital building project which included a new dining and conference area along with many other remodeled areas.
Together with donations made from community members, staff, patients, families and local businesses; this makes the HCMH Foundation the largest benefactor to health care in Humboldt County.
