Loren J. Sanders is a professional development specialist or as she says, a professional synergist.
Her experience includes professional development, strategic talent management, talent acquisition, instructional design, organizational effectiveness and leadership strategies.
According to her biography, her personal mission is to rid the workplace of toxic behavior and create development initiatives associated with enhancing corporate culture and driving inclusion, belonging and psychological safety at work.
So taking a step back from her own practice and realizing some of her own shortcomings led to a concise and amply exampled book entitled “Empathy is Not a Weakness And Other Stories from the Edge.”
She will be offering copies of her book at a book launch party on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 1-4 p.m. at the Tractor Lift Brewery, 716 Sumner Ave.

Dakota City has a pair of new city public works employees and both started at nearly the same time. Aaron Benz predated Brad Duffy by a few days. Both men are now working full-time for the city, taking care of city streets and sewers, municipal water and wastewater, recycling hauling and taking care of the public park in town.
Both men come from backgrounds in construction and labor.
Benz and Duffy have been working with Brian Klein of Whittemore, operator of North Iowa Environmental. The Dakota City Council recently hired Klein to serve as an affidavit operator for the city’s water and wastewater treatment operations while Benz and Duffy obtain training and work toward obtaining their Stage 1 license.
