Janice S. Hill, 87, of rural Hardy, passed away on Friday morning, June 2, 2023 in the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 and visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service, both at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hardy. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhard.com

Humboldt baseball team in 16-1 victory over FDSE

The Humboldt baseball team continued their strong run by drubbing Fort Dodge St. Edmond, 16-1 in four innings Friday night, June 9 in Humboldt. The Wildcats are now 12-2 overall, 6-0 and first in the North Central Conference.

Jayden Gargano earned the win on the mound for the Wildcats. He was backed by six Wildcat hits. St. Edmond committed four errors and issued seven walks. Josh Thurm, Riley Sorensen, Evan Hatcher, Trever Beach, Jayden Gargano and Corey Dettmann (2) each hit safely for the Wildcats.

Humboldt picked up another victory, dumping Central Springs 15-4 Thursday night in Manly in non-conference action.

Humboldt kept its record perfect in North Central Conference play by shutting out Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 12-0 in five innings on June 7 in Humboldt. Ty Gargano pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts. Josh Thurm and Corey Dettmann each had three hits while Isaiah Busick made two for Humboldt's 12-hit attack.

St. Edmond downs Humboldt girls, 6-0

The Fort Dodge St. Edmond softball team, ranked in the top 10 in Class 1A, withstood a couple of Humboldt rallies and went on down the Wildcats, 6-0 in a North Central Conference game in Humboldt on Friday, June 9.

The Wildcats, 7-5 overall, 4-2 in the NCC, collected five hits on the night. Haley Satern, Reagan Lee, Elsie Hubbell and Gracie Lyon (2) all hit safely for the Wildcats. Lee took the loss on the mound.

Wildcats over Broncos, 6-1
The Humboldt softball team improved to 7-4 overall Thursday night, June 8, by beating Belmond-Klemme, 6-1 in non-conference play in Humboldt. Reagan Lee pitched a four-hitter and struck out five. Lee was also 2-for-3 with two doubles at the plate for the Wildcats.

Wildcats rally past Clear Lake, 5-4

Isaiah Busick's run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning with two out lifted the Humboldt baseball team to a thrilling, 5-4 victory over the Clear Lake Lions on Friday night, June 2 in Humboldt.

The triumph moved the Wildcats to 3-0 in the North Central Conference, 7-2 overall.

Busick drove in Riley Sorensen, who reached base when he was hit by a pitch. Busick was 3-for-4 at bat for the Wildcats.

Wildcats 15, SEV 5
Humboldt combined for eight hits at the plate and Mason Van Pelt pitch four strong innings to lead the Wildcat baseball team to a 15-5 victory over Southeast Valley on Thursday, June 1 in Humboldt.

Corey Dettmann was 3-for-4 at bat and Josh Thurm was 2-for-4 to lead the Humboldt offense.

Van Pelt pitched the first four innings with Coen Matson and Kyle Caquelin in throwing in relief.
