R.I.V.E.R. group agrees to buy Reasoner Dam for $1

After years of discussion, the Joe Reasoner Dam will have a new owner, pending approval by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. The Humboldt County Conservation Board on Tuesday approved the sale of the dam to the R.I.V.E.R. Development Group by a vote of 3-2. Humboldt Independent file photo.

BY APRIL KELLEY
In a surprising three to two vote, the Conservation Board voted to sell the Dam to the R.I.V.E.R. Development Group for $1 on Tuesday.
Chairman Bob Rasmussen, Co-chairman Tate Satern and Will Spellmeyer voted aye while Mary Miner and T.C. Loving voted nay.
Both Miner and Loving stated that they believed they had done their research and still felt deeply that Option Two was the best answer for the dam and for Humboldt.
Once the vote was over, all the members of the Conservation Board wished the R.I.V.E.R. Development Group success in their plans.
The matter will now come before the Humboldt County Supervisors at an upcoming meeting for a resolution after which a public hearing will be held.
