SUSAN R. WILSON

Sue Wilson passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital with her husband by her side. She was born on Dec. 5, 1948, the daughter of Jack and Jean Laing. Sue grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1967. She met Darryl in 1966 and they were united in marriage in 1971 in Denver, CO and together they embarked on a life of love and adventure.
After moving back to Humboldt in 1973, Sue worked in several retail stores. They moved to Boone and built a life together for 36 years where she worked as a chiropractic assistant before retiring in 2003. After retirement, Sue and Darryl returned to Humboldt to be closer to family. She especially cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Sue. To know Sue was to know one of the kindest souls – a woman with a soft touch, an even softer heart and an endless capacity to make those around her feel at home and at peace.

Strong performances for HHS boys at indoor opener

Humboldt’s veteran head boys’ track coach Greg Wickett says his squad is ahead of schedule after an impressive showing at their own Nielsen Family Invitational held inside the Humboldt Recreation Center on March 20.
The Wildcats had several top five performances in the annual indoor meet where no team scoring was kept.
“They did a good job for this early in the year. We haven’t practiced hardly at all because of the snow, but we’ve used these first few indoor meets as training sessions,” Wickett said.
“We’re not where we need to be, but we are seeing some good things here early on. The improvement will come later,” Wickett said.
Humboldt junior Valley Davis was first in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.14 seconds and the Wildcats’ shuttle hurdle relay and distance medley relay both took first.

HUMBOLDT - One of the largest and longest community packaging events in the state of Iowa took place last week inside the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church fellowship hall March 14-15.

Humboldt County Ministerial Association’s 13th annual Meals from the Heartland meal packaging event unfolded with the efforts of 450 students and teachers who packaged 57,672 meals on Friday, followed by over 300 community members on Saturday, who packaged 94,392 meals for a grand total of 152,044 meals packaged to feed the hungry.

The race meals packaged will be distributed throughout Iowa by the Food Bank of Iowa and to disaster victims in the United States. It also supports school lunch programs overseas.
