Humboldt baseball team has 6 players receiving post-season honors
The Humboldt High School baseball team, which posted an overall 22-7 record in 2013, including 13-5 and runner-up in the North Central Conference, has six players receiving post-season honors.Senior third baseman/pitcher Ben Jacobson was named Class 3A third-team all-state by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Jacobson was also named first-team all-district in the 3A Central district. Freshman outfielder Chris Witzke was also named first-team all-district while senior outfielder Ryan Lee and sophomore shortstop Austin Zylstra were second-team all-district.Jacobson was a unanimous first-team all-conference pick at pitcher. Zylstra was a unanimous first-team all-conference pick. Witzke was also named first-team. The second-team unit includes Wildcat sophomore pitcher Brenden Schnell and sophomore outfielder Connor Vitzthum.
