Wolverines will challenge for district 2 football title

During a pre-season interview, West Bend-Mallard/GCB head football coach Pete Kapustynski kept it close to the vest when asked about his team’s chances of winning the Eight Man District 2 football championship this season. Kapustynski, who begins his 22nd season, never wants to provide bulletin board material for opposing teams. But he had no trouble letting out a smile when he talked about his enthusiasm for his 2013 squad. The Wolverines return nine players from last year’s squad that went 7-4 overall, 5-2 and fourth in the district standings. WBM/GCB lost in the first round of the playoffs. While the Wolverines lost six seniors to graduation, they return talented players, including a strong senior class, expected to help them challenge again in their district.See complete story in the Aug. 29 issue of the Independent. 2013 WOLVERINE FOOTBALL SCHEDULEAug. 23 at Northwood-KensettAug. 30 Remsen-UnionSept. 6 at Marcus-Meriden-CleghornSept. 13 NE HamiltonSept. 20 Graettinger-TerrilSept. 27 at North IowaOct. 4 Corwith-Wesley-LuVerneOct. 11 at CALOct. 18 Laurens-MarathonOct. 25 at Newell-Fonda
