Dallas Center-Grimes blanks Humboldt in 3A playoff opener, 21-0

Humboldt's 2013 football season came to a close Wednesday night (Oct. 30) as Dallas Center-Grimes blanked the Wildcats, 21-0 in a Class 3A first round playoff game in Grimes.The Mustangs led 7-0 at halftime and added a touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters as they improved to 9-1 on the season. Humboldt played without starters Brady Ross and Alex Nelson due to injuries. DCG, now 9-1 overall, will host Grinnell (7-3) on Nov. 4. Grinnell topped Webster City, 34-28 in another first round game. In other district playoff games, Clear Lake whipped Ballard Huxley 35-7 and Waverly-Shell Rock beat Boone 33-7.Humboldt ends its season with an overall record of 6-4.
