Humboldt baseball team slugs Algona in district opener, 10-1
The Humboldt High baseball team put together an impressive performance Friday night by slugging Algona, 10-1 in 7 innings in a Class 3A first round district tournament game at Wildcat Field. The Wildcats' got a combined four-hitter from Brenden Schnell and Chris Witzke on the mound while Jordan Edwards had three hits to lead Humboldt's 13-hit attack. Algona fell to 13-20 with the loss.The Wildcats, now 23-7 on the year, will play host to Gilbert on Monday, July 20, in a 7 p.m. district final. Gilbert rallied to defeat Iowa Falls-Alden, 5-4 earlier in the evening Friday night in Humboldt.See full story in the Humboldt Independent Newspaper.
