BREAKING NEWS: Rolfe fugitive found in Dakota City


Michael John Gord of Rolfe was arrested late Wednesday evening by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office in Dakota City. He was transported to the Pocahontas County Jail where he is being held on five felony counts, including attempted murder.

The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reports that an arrest has been made of a man wanted for attempted murder.
The PCSO reports that at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, they received word that the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) had arrested Michael John Gord, 28, of Rolfe.
Gord was arrested by Humboldt County authorities at 502 3rd Ave. S. in Dakota City.
He was transported to the Pocahontas County Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 cash bond.
Gord, formerly of Dakota City, is being charged with attempted murder, a class B felony; three counts of willful injury – causing serious injuries, all class C felonies; and one count of going armed with intent, a class D felony.
Gord is accused of stabbing a 36-year-old Rolfe man with a large knife shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, Oct. 13. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Garfield Street in Rolfe. Gord fled the scene and authorities had been looking for his whereabouts until his arrest Wednesday night in Dakota City.
Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Henderson reports that Gord was an acquaintance of the victim and that there is a possible motive for the action.
