Nilles, Naeve, Craven win NCC wrestling titles as Humboldt places 3rd

Humboldt placed third in the team scoring and crowned three individual champions in the North Central Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Iowa Falls.

The Wildcats finished with 187.5 points to finish behind first-place Iowa Falls-Alden (198.5) and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (192.5). Hampton-Dumont-CAL was fourth with 175, followed by Algona (158), Webster City (111.5), Clear Lake (102) and Fort Dodge St. Edmond (14).

Humboldt's title winners on the day include a trio of seniors in Logan Nilles at 182 pounds, Levi Naeve at 160 and Cresten Craven at 120. Cole Nelson was a runner-up at 106 pounds, along with Colten Goodell at 220. Colby Clarken was their at 126. Securing fourth-place for Humboldt was Jordan Jensen at 138, Jase Goodell at 113 and Tanner McKimmey at 195. Josh Beldin was fifth at 285. Sixth-place went to Ty Gargano at 132, Joe Weydert at 145, Fletcher Satern at 152 and Braxden Scott at 170.

The Wildcats will wrap up their varsity season at home on Thursday, Jan. 30, against Manson-Northwest Webster, in a meet rescheduled from Jan. 23. Humboldt will not participate in the four-team meet at Ballard Huxley originally scheduled.
