Humboldt wrestlers 3rd in Joe Fitch Invitational

Humboldt crowned two individual champions and finished third in the team scoring of their own Joe Fitch Invitational tournament on Friday, Dec. 3 in the Humboldt gym.

The Wildcats finished with 218.5 points. Atlantic was the team champion with 279 points with Emmetsburg runner-up at 232. Carroll Kuemper was fourth at 194.5. Sheldon South O'Brien had 152, Pocahontas Area 102, Forest City 99.5 and Aplington-Parkersburg-Grundy Center had 92.5.

For Humboldt, DJ Muir was first at 120 pounds and Dusty Pate won the 126-pound class. Runner-up finishers for Humboldt include Cyler Cirks at 106, Owen Mayall at 113, Tyce Clarken at 120 and Ty Gargano at 145.

Placing third was Aden Prenger at 106 and Jayden Gargano at 132. Fourth-place went to Zayn Feaster at 138, Joe Weydert at 152 and Gaige Allen at 170. Christian Alcala at 182, Christian Lee at 195 and Tayeton Lohaus at 285 all finished fifth. Landon Halverson was sixth at 160 while eighth-place went to Ethan Kunert at 220, Kyle Caquelin at 195 and Cael Newell at 195.

Humboldt returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 9 at Fort Dodge St. Edmond in conference dual action. Claron-Goldfield-Dows will also compete.
