Sande is contractor for school expansion project

After two years of discussion, the proposed sports practice training facility project at Humboldt High School will become a reality after action by the Humboldt School Board at their regular monthly meeting Monday night, June 13.
The board approved a base bid of $4,665,046.00 from Sande Construction Company of Humboldt. Jensen Builders of Fort Dodge submitted the other bid, which totaled $5,650,000.00.
The project calls for the construction of a new multi-purpose training facility, along with a new gymnasium and increased wrestling room space. It also includes expanded restrooms at the football stadium.
Joel Armitage of Sande Construction says costs are up 10 to 15 percent already due to inflation. Work is estimated to begin in mid-to-late August with completion likely done by summer 2023.
The Board had a lengthy discussion about alternative bid options for the project the base bid cost will be $4.66 million. Read more about the project in this week's Humboldt Independent. Subscribe for print or digital editions at the top of this page and read what you are missing.
