The Lu Verne Community School District Board of Education met on June 16. Superintendent Jon Hueser reported the district will waive school lunch fees again this year.
“None of our parents will have to pay for their kids’ school lunches this year. We are working on our eligibility provision, which means all kids are free for lunch. But since our payback would be 86 percent, we would have to come up with ways to fund the remaining 14 percent,” Hueser said.
“The kids have eaten for free the last two years. Of all the years, this year would be most important for families to have this in place because of inflation,” Hueser said. “Now is when the kids need to be eating for free and I wish the federal government would continue to pay for it and have it done.”
