Humboldt County under winter weather advisory for Thursday
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for all of Humboldt and surrounding counties for Thursday, March 9, remaining in effect until midnight.
A late season winter storm will continue to produce snowfall through the afternoon into this evening. The most intense snowfall and likely travel disruptions from slushy roads and reduced visibility will be focused over portions of northern and into east central Iowa this afternoon, with generally light snowfall and only minor road impacts expected elsewhere.
People can expect slippery and slushy road conditions, which could impact the Thursday evening commute. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution.
Those with travel plans are encouraged to check ahead on the latest road and weather conditions. Call 511, check the Iowa 511 app, or go to www.511ia.org.
An estimated 4-6 inches of snow are expected in our area and includes the towns of Humboldt, Gilmore City, Rolfe, Algona, Pocahontas, Webster City, Fort Dodge, Clarion, Belmond, Eagle Grove, Manson and Laurens.
