Perfect 14-0 in the NCC!!
Humboldt’s varsity baseball team capped their North Central Conference portion of their schedule with a perfect 14-0 record by turning back the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets, 11-4 Thursday night, June 29 in Humboldt. The Wildcats cap the week at 23-3 overall on the season.
Coen Matson walked one and struck out four from the mound. Trever Beach hit a double and two singles to lead Humboldt’s nine-hit attack. Christian Lee doubled and singled.
Wildcat boys climb to 22-3 overall
The Humboldt baseball team continued their impressive run Wednesday night (June 28) by drubbing the Fort Dodge St. Edmond Gaels, 11-3 in a North Central Conference game at Rogers Park.
Ty Gargano pitched seven innings of six-hit ball with three strikeouts and three walks. Humboldt backed him up with nine hits as Riley Sorensen and Trever Beach each had two hits for the Wildcats. Sorensen hit a triple and Beach socked two doubles.
Humboldt will host Storm Lake on Monday, July 3, in non-conference play.
Humboldt closes out its season on July 5 at Spencer.
Humboldt will host Gilbert in a Class 3A substate opening round game on Friday, July 7, at 7 p.m. The winner advances to a semifinal round game on July 10 against Clear Lake or Algona. Clear Lake and Algona meet in Clear Lake for a first round game. The substate final will be played on July 12 at a site to be determined. The other half of the substate has North Polk hosting Greene County and Hampton-Dumont-CAL hosting Webster City.
The State baseball tournament will be played in Iowa City July 17-21.
IHSAA postseason admission is $6 for kindergarten through adult, plus the processing fee. No cash will be accepted at the gate.
Tickets go on sale July 4th at 9 a.m. and must be purchased online via Hometown Ticketing.
