HHS girls place 5 on North Central all-Conference

North Central Conference volleyball co-champion Humboldt placed five players on the coaches’ all-conference team released last week.
The Wildcats’ first-team selections include sophomore outside hitter Mia Schluter and sophomore setter Kendall Works.
The second-team unit includes Humboldt seniors Macey Varangkounh as a defensive specialist and Tayla Wempen as an outside hitter. Wildcat senior setter Ella Olson was chosen to the third-team unit.
They helped Humboldt finish 5-2 and tied with Algona for the league title under first-year head coach Ashlyn Clark. Humboldt compiled an overall won-loss record of 14-18 in what shaped up to be a wide-open conference race that wasn’t decided until the final match of the regular season.
