Humboldt girls edge Pocahontas Area, 43-41

The Humboldt girls' basketball team picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night (Nov. 21) by edging Pocahontas Area, 43-41 in the Pocahontas gym. Morgan Mann scored 12 points and Meg Zweibohmer netted nine to pace the Wildcats in their non-conference matchup with the Indians.
2nd half lifts Gilbert past Humboldt, 52-41
Gilbert outscored Humboldt 23-13 in the second half en route to a 52-41 victory over the Wildcats Monday night (Nov. 20) in a season-opening, non-conference girls' basketball game in the Humboldt gym.

Morgan Mann scored 17 points and Ava Fischer made 10 to pace Humboldt. Reagan Lee finished with eight and Kaitlyn Nelson added six to round out Humboldt's scoring.

Gilbert was led by Mia Kautman's 19 points. Mollie Schnormeier made 13. Lauren Sniezek added nine for the Tigers, who trailed Humboldt 15-13 after the first quarter but held a 29-28 lead at halftime.

Humboldt led 33-29 three minutes into the second half before Gilbert outscored the Wildcats 9-0 to finish out the third quarter. A five-point deficit was soon a 10-point advantage as the Tigers never looked back to finish out the fourth quarter.

Humboldt returns to action at Manson on Nov. 28.
