Humboldt County in blizzard warning

Humboldt County is in a blizzard warning today into Saturday. Snow accumulations in our area are expected to be 3-5 inches with wind gusts of 35-45 miles per hour, leading to blizzard conditions with significant blowing snow and whiteout conditions.
Dangerous travel conditions will occur and travel may become impossible in some rural areas.
The blizzard warning will remain in effect through 6 a.m. on Saturday.
Bitterly cold temperatures will follow. From 7 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday, wind chill readings are expected at -25 to -45.
As such, travel will be exceedingly dangerous and anyone stranded on roadways will be exposed to life-threatening cold. Travelers are asked to have a blanket, shovel and food and water with them.
If travel is necessary call 511 or go to 511ia.org for Iowa road conditions.
The city of Humboldt has issued a snow emergency for Friday, Jan. 12, through 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Vehicles should be moved off the street during snow operations.
Also during the months of December through March, no person except physicians or other persons on emergency calls shall park any vehicle on any street between the hours of 3-7 a.m. of any day.
Persons leaving their vehicles on the street will be ticketed.
After snow ends it is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations from sidewalks within 12 hours in commercial zoning districts, and 24 hours in residential zoning areas after such accumulation occurs.
If a property owner does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within the established time frame after an accumulation occurs, the city may do so and assess the costs against the property owner.
Residents are also reminded that it is unlawful for any person to throw, push, or place
or cause to be thrown, pushed or placed, any ice or snow from private property, sidewalks, or driveways onto the traveled way of a street or alley so as to obstruct gutters, or impede the passage of vehicles upon the street or alley.
Also, the mayor of Gilmore City has proclaimed an emergency parking ban. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley or city-owned off-street parking unless the snow has been removed and plowed from the area.
The parking ban will continue through the duration of the storm and the 48-hour period thereafter. Violators will be cited and fined.
