Humboldt’s varsity boys basketball team improved their record to 9-2 overall, 6-1 in conference play, by topping Fort Dodge St. Edmond, 82-76 on Friday night (Jan. 19) in Fort Dodge. Elliot Carlson paced the Wildcats with 20 points. Evan Hatcher made 16, Carson Sleiter 15 and Coen Matson had 12. Hunter Horn scored 29 to lead St. Edmond. Sam Mericle had 15.

Humboldt boys win double overtime thriller, 90-84

The Humboldt boys' basketball team had to go into two overtimes to defeat the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets, 90-84 in a North Central Conference game in the Humboldt gym Tuesday night, Jan. 16. Evan Hatcher scored 33 points to lead Humboldt. Elliot Carlson had 26 and Coen Matson 20 for the Wildcats. Kal Kalous made 23 to pace the Cadets. The victory improved Humboldt to 8-2 overall, 5-1 in the NCC. IFA slipped to 4-8 overall, 2-4 in the NCC.

The Wildcats' game at Clear Lake on Jan. 18 has been moved to Monday, Jan. 22.

Humboldt will host Algona on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
