Humboldt beats HDC, 28-10 in district opener

The Humboldt High football team improved its season record to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in district play by beating the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs, 28-10 on Sept. 27 in Hampton in Class 3A District 2 action.

Humboldt quarterback Coen Matson teamed up with Valley Davis for a pair of first half touchdown passes. Jaxson Kirchhoff later scored on a 7-yard run with 1:45 left in the first half, giving the Wildcats a 21-3 halftime lead.

Cash McIntire, a sophomore running back, scored on a 5-yard TD run with 9:38 left in the fourth. Karson Rubel's point-after made it 28-10 Wildcats.
