Humboldt County, 2024 General Election Results

The results are in for the 2024 General Election in Humboldt County. In total there were 5,123 ballots cast in Humboldt County. Compared to the total ballots cast in the 2020 General Election (5,353), that is a 230 difference.
On the night of Nov. 5, the attention of people across the country and internationally was locked in on their television screens, social media, and news sources as the results came flooding in.
All eyes were on the state of Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes. In the days leading up to the election, both parties paid extra attention to the battleground state which ultimately was called as a win for the Trump campaign.
Ultimately, America voted to reelect Donald Trump for a second term making him both the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America. In Humboldt County, there 5,071 votes in the election for U.S President and Vice President. Republican candidates Donald Trump and JD Vance are the projected winners of Humboldt County with 3,762 (74.19%) votes. Democrat Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz received 1,232 (74.19%) votes in Humboldt County.
In regard to third-party candidates there were 40 (0.79%) votes for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan of The World Trade Organization working party. Libertarian Chase Oliver and his running mate Mike ter Maat received 17 (0.34%) votes. There were 3 (0.06%) votes for Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. There was one vote for William P. Stodden and Stephanie H. Cholensky of the Socialist party. There were no votes for Shiva Ayyadurai and running mate Crystal Ellis. There were 16 (0.32%) votes for write-in candidates.
County Election Results
Locally, there were no contested candidates for any of the seats up for election.
* The seat for County Board of Supervisors – District 4 went to Republican Mike Carpenter with 770 votes (95.77%). There were 34 write-in ballots cast.
* The seat for County Board of Supervisors – District 5 went to Republican Bob Rasmussen with 875 votes (97.87 %)
* Republican Trish Erickson holds the office of County Auditor with 4,295 votes (99.28%). There were 31 write-in ballots.
* Republican Dean Kruger was reelected as County Sheriff with 4,576 votes (98.32%). There were 78 write-in ballots.
* For the Avery Township, there were two seats available for the Trustee Board although Paul D. Nielson was the sole candidate to run for the position receiving 83 votes (95.40%). There were four write-in ballots.
* For the Beaver Township, there were two seats for the Trustee Board available. Dave Torkelson received 120 votes (50.00%) and Richard Lynn Peterson received 119 votes (49.58%). There was one write-in ballot.
* For the Corinth Township, there were two seats open for the Trustee Board. Douglas Bacon was the sole candidate with 175 votes (97.22%). There were five write-in ballots.
* For the Delana Township there was one seat open for the Trustee Board, although there were no candidates running for election there were 8 write-in ballots cast (100.00%). For the Delana Township, Trustee to Fill a Vacancy there also were no candidates running with 6 write-in ballots cast (100.00%).
* For the Grove Township there were two seats open for the Trustee Board. Jon Girres was the sole candidate in the running with 130 votes (51.38%). There was one write-in ballot.
* For the Humboldt Township, there were two seats open for the Trustee Board. Nick Collins received 66 votes (49.62%) and Tyler McCullough received 67 votes (50.38%). There were no write-in ballots.
* For the Lake Township, there was one seat open for the Trustee Board with one candidate on the ballot. Richard W. Nerving was elected with 75 votes (93.75%). There were five write-in ballots cast. For the election to fill a vacancy on the Lake Township Trustee Board, Dennis R. Rassmussen was elected with 80 votes (97.56%). There were two write-in ballots cast.
* For the Norway Township, there were two seats up for the Trustee Board. Clayton Hansen received 87 votes (52.41%) and Mark W. Holtan received 78 votes (46.99%). There was one write-in ballot.
* For the Rutland Township there were two seats open for the Board of Trustees. Mike Ludwig was the sole candidate with 136 votes (97.84%). There were three write-in ballots.
* For the Vemon Township there were two seats open for Board of Trustees. William Nielson was the sole candidate with 41 votes (75.93%). There were 13 write in ballots.
* For the Wacousta Township there were two seats open for the Board of Trustees. Jess Welter was the sole candidate with 62 votes (87.32%). There were 9 write-in ballots.
* For the Humboldt County Board of Trustees, there were three seats open. The seats were run by Pam Ray with 2,934 votes (31.67%), Molly Varangkounh with 3,087 votes (33.33%) and Natalie Wergeland with 3,210 votes (34.65%). There were 32 write-in ballots.
* For County Soil and Water Conservation Board District Commissioner there were two seats available with Pat Hill and T.C Loving being reelected to position. Hill received 3,503 votes (55.83%) and Loving received 2,725 votes (43.43%). There wee 46 write-in ballots.
* For County Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner to fill a vacancy, Reed Burres was elected with 3,658 votes (99.13%). There were 32 (0.87%) write-in ballots cast.
* For the County Agricultural Extension Council there were four seats open. The seats were won by Jenna C. Bormann with 2,871 votes (24.62%), Jeffery Goodell with 3,205 votes (27.48%), Jennifer Lash with 2,875 votes (24.64%) and Jill Soenen with 2,676 votes (22.95%). There were 36 write-in ballots. For the election to fill a vacancy on the County Agricultural Extension Council there was on seat open witch was won uncontested by Matthew Dornbier with 3,596 votes (99.28%).
District Judges
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Judge Derek Johnson. 2,420 (75.23%) voted YES and 797 (24.77%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Court Judge Adria Kester. 2,240 (71.66%) voted YES and 886 (28.34%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Court Judge Kurt John Stoebe. 2,925 (77.36%) voted YES and 856 (22.64%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Associate Judge Kathryn E. Austin. 2,307 (74.23%) voted YES votes and 801 (25.77%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain 2B Associate Judge Hans Becker. 2,294 (73.67%) voted YES and 820 (26.33%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Associate Judge Ashley Beisch. 2,306 (74.41%) voted YES and 793 (25.59%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Associate Judge Paul G. Crawford. 2,227 (72.42%) voted YES and 848 (27.58%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain District 2B Associate Judge Joseph B. McCarville. 2,418 (74.77%) voted YES and 816 (25.23%) voted NO.
* Humboldt County voted to retain Associate Judge Hunter Thorpe. 2,260 (73.35%) voted YES while 821 (26.65%) voted NO.
State Level Elections
* In Humboldt County, for the United State Representative – District 4 seat, Republican Randy Feenstra prevailed with 3,662 (76.21%) votes. There were 1,130 (25.52%) votes for Democrat challenger Ryan Melton. There were 13 (0.27%) write-in ballots cast.
* For the State Representative – District 56 seat, Republican Mark I. Thompson prevailed in Humboldt County with 3,591 (75.81%) votes. Democrat Kyle Kruse received 1,142 (24.11%) votes. There were 4 write-in ballots cast.
* For the State Senator – District 28 seat, Republican Dennis Guth was reelected with 3,514 (75.36%) votes in Humboldt County. Democrat Cynthia Oppedal Paschen received 1,144 (24.36%) votes. There were five write-in ballots cast.
Supreme Court
* Regarding the vote to retain Supreme Court Justice David May, Humboldt voted YES with 2,534 (73.88%). There were 896 (26.12%) NO votes cast.
Court of Appeals
* Humboldt county voted in favor of retaining Appeals Judge Mary Elizabeth Chicchelly with 2,303 votes (71.23%). There were 930 (28.77%) votes in opposition to the retention of the judge.
* Humboldt county voted in favor of retaining Court of Appeals Judge Samuel Langholz with 2,218 (70.23%) YES votes. There were 940 (29.77) votes in opposition.
* Humboldt county voted in favor of Retaining Court of Appeals Judge Tyler J. Buller with 2,273 (72.46%) YES votes. There were 864 votes in opposition.
Constitutional Amendments
* There were two constitutional amendments on the Humboldt County Ballot. Humboldt County voted in favor of both amendments. For Constitutional Amendment 1, 3,615 (80.91%) voted YES and 853 (19.09%) voted No. For Constitutional Amendment 2, 3,826 (86.66%) voted YES and 589 (13.34%) voted NO.
