Wildcats roll 91-52 at Iowa Falls

Humboldt got back on the winning track at Iowa Falls Friday night, Feb. 7, by cruising to a 91-52 conference victory over the Cadets in boys’ North Central Conference play. Humboldt improved to 12-6 overall, 9-3 in conference play. Elliot Carlson poured in 34 points, Jackson Flaherty made 20 and Coen Matson hit for 18 to lead the Wildcats.

Wildcats upended by St. Edmond, 71-68
Fort Dodge St. Edmond avenged a lopsided loss to Humboldt in early January by posting a 71-68 triumph over the Wildcats on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in Fort Dodge. Mason Van Pelt and Valley Davis each scored 14 points to lead Humboldt. Elliot Carlson had 12 and Jackson Flaherty and Coen Matson had 11 each. Hunter Horn scored 28 to lead St. Edmond with Carson Bargfrede adding 20 and Andrew Clavey 13. St. Edmond improved to 16-2 and 10-2. Humboldt beat St. Edmond 95-66 back on Jan. 7 in Humboldt.

Humboldt's nine-game winning streak came to an abrupt end on Friday night (Jan. 31) in a 95-59 loss to the unbeaten and No 1 ranked Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference boys' basketball in the Humboldt gym. Sophomore standout Carson Riser drained nine 3-point baskets and scored 29 points to lead the Lions, who improved to 15-0 overall, 10-0 in the NCC. He was backed by Thomas Meyer with 18 points, Titan Schmitt with 15 and Jaxson McIntire with 13. Humboldt was paced by Coen Matson's 20 points. Elliot Carlson made 15 and Mason Van Pelt added six for Humboldt.

Humboldt won its ninth straight game Tuesday night (Jan. 28) by turning back Hampton-Dumont-CAL, 62-59 in a North Central Conference game at Hampton. Coen Matson scored 21 points, Elliot Carlson made 16 and Valley Davis added 10 to lead the Wildcats. Brady Harr scored 23 points and grabbed 23 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Tramaine Horton made 14 and Caden Woods added six. It was Humboldt's second win of the season over the Bulldogs. HDC slipped to 3-12 and 1-8.

Humboldt travels to Algona on Feb. 11. They visit Webster City on Feb. 14.
