HUMBOLDT - Humboldt Rotary Club recognized the top 20 students in the senior class at Humboldt High School at a banquet held on April 30 at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
It marked the 64th annual Top 20 honors banquet the Humboldt club has held. The Rotary club was chartered in 1925 and through the years has awarded many scholarships and loaned funds from the Lindhart Trust to worthy students.
Many students have benefitted from over $604,101 in low interest loans since the club began managing the Lindhart Trust in 1972. In 2021 the trust funds were transferred to the Humboldt Community School District Foundation with instructions to offer two $1,000 scholarships to Humboldt High School graduates that exemplify the Rotary Motto of Service Above Self.
Guest speaker at the banquet was Brady Ross, an Edward Jones Investments representative in Algona. Ross graduated from Humboldt High School in 2015. He was a top 20 student and went on to attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he was a two-year captain on the Hawkeye football team. He was a four-time All-Big Ten Conference academic honoree.
Brady and his wife, Bailey, live in Algona with their dogs Rogue and Bogey, and their cat Veteran. Ross said he applies his discipline and dedication as a financial planner at Edward Jones, helping clients achieve their financial goals with the same commitment that defined his academic and athletic career.
This year, 21 students met the academic threshold to be recognized. Students honored include Asja Anderson, Alexander Armitage, Macy Berte, Larsen Bonnstetter, Anna Duffy, Jasmine Fusco, Keegan Groat, Mack Harklau, Elsie Hubbell, Jarin Kroeger, Margaret Zweibohmer, Mason Van Pelt, Parker Sleiter, Kaitlyn Nelson, Paige Nelson, Tyler Moore, Morgan Mayall, Coen Matson, Adam Manz, Morgan Mann and Brogan Lennon-Meyer.
