Aided by the efforts of six Humboldt High School students, the Fort Dodge High girls’ swim team placed fifth in the team scoring of the Mason City Redhawk tournament on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Humboldt’s Adelyn Meyer, Morgan Townsend, Ellen Townsend and Amelia Winter all saw action in the meet.
Morgan Townsend finished 19th in the varsity 100-yard freestyle in 1:20.99. Adelyn Meyer was 17th in the varsity 500-yard freestyle in 8:19.68.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Winter swam the second leg and Ellen Townsend swam the third leg of the 12th-place relay unit which clocked 2:12.51.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Adelyn Meyer was 19th in 1:34.51. Ellen Townsend was 19th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:46.08.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay unit which placed 11th in 5:30.81, Adelyn Meyer swam the first leg and Morgan Townsend swam the third leg.
