The aging Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) could be in for some major upgrades after action taken by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 20. The board voted unanimously to proceed with applying for grants and no interest loans for a $1.1 million renovation and addition project at the LEC, which is located at the corner of 5th Street South and Sumner Avenue in Humboldt. Major components of the project include a new 2,050 square foot addition to the west estimated at $547,000, remodeling work estimated at $213,000, and a new 9-1-1 system and technology upgrades estimated at $350,000. Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger and grant writer Linda Frideres met with the supervisors on to discuss the project. The Humboldt High football team will host Gilbert in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs this week. The Wildcats will host Gilbert in a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Other first round games involving teams in District 2 include Webster City at Ballard Huxley, Greene County at Creston and Adel-ADM at Carroll. The second round will take place on Monday, Nov. 3.
