Wildcat girls upended at No. 2 Pocahontas, 81-48

No. 2 ranked (Class 3A) Pocahontas Area jumped out of the gate early with a 20-point first quarter lead over Humboldt and went on to upend the Wildcats, 81-48 in a season-opening non-conference girls' basketball game at Pocahontas on Nov. 24. Avery Terwilliger scored 17 points to pace the Wildcats. Humboldt returns to action on Dec. 1 when they visit Manson-Northwest Webster in a girl-boy, JV-Varsity quad.See full story in the Humboldt Independent. COOK OF THE WEEK - ANGIE FRERK

Angie Frerk is another of the Bank Iowa employees who we are interviewing for our Cook of the Week. Angie has been work-ing at Bank Iowa for 13 years and is a vice president and commercial and ag lender at the bank. Angie and her husband Brad live near Gilmore City and farm by Bradgate. They have been married for eight years. Angie graduated from the Twin River Valley High School and also the University of Northern Iowa. They have two children. Emma is 7 years old and is a first grad-er at Taft Elementary in Hum-boldt. Levi is 4 years old and attends preschool at Kings Kids in Humboldt. They’re family attends Resur-rection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas. They enjoy camping and spending time with family and friends. Angie shares some yummy sounding recipes with us this week.

Humboldt dominates NCC All-Conference volleyball

North Central Conference champion Humboldt dominated the post-season all-conference team selected by league coaches. Humboldt, which went unbeaten in 2015 and were outright conference champions, had four players named first-team in senior Talyn Larsen, junior Abby Zaugg, senior Morgan Weydert and junior Taylor Gidel.
