Little Holiday Helpers


Thrivent Action Team Funds donated to the HOPES Little Holiday Helpers shopping event, which will be Saturday, Dec. 3. Jeanie Stattelman (left) and Michelle Hankins (right) are from HOPES. The first annual “Little Holiday Helpers” program will be Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon inside the American Legion building at 620 Sumner Avenue in Humboldt.
Elementary school age children can shop with an “Elf” who will help pick out the perfect gifts for Mom, Dad, sister or brother. All gifts are $1 and will be available for kids or adults. Gift wrapping is provided. This is all while supplies last.
Parents can enjoy coffee and rolls on special at Kist Korner and Sweetest Things Bakery while their children shop.
Children will be paired with a local high school “Elf” to ensure their shopping success and safety.
All items and wrapping paper are being donated by local businesses, individuals and Thrivent Financial.

Humboldt boys open with 67-57 victory

Humboldt's varsity boys' basketball team opened their season tonight (Nov. 29) at home by hosting Manson-Northwest Webster and ended up winning 67-57. Devon Clark scored 22 points to pace the Wildcats while Drew Thomas was next with 18 for Humboldt. Riley Peters scored 12 points and Clay Freimuch added 10 to lead the Cougars in this non-conference matchup.

Humboldt girls hold off Cougars, 36-32

Humboldt's varsity girls' basketball team evened their season record at 1-1 overall tonight (Nov. 29) by holding off Manson-Northwest Webster, 36-32. Avery Terwilliger scored 12 points and Halie George made 11 to lead the Wildcat scoring. Sydney Lane was next with seven points and nine rebounds. The visiting Cougars were paced by Becca Krueger with 11.

Humboldt will begin North Central Conference play at Algona on Friday, Dec. 2, in a JV-varsity girls only doubleheader with the Bulldogs.
