Richardson motorcade to pass through Humboldt Friday

A local resident, Pat Albrecht, is arranging a way in which people can honor the late Sgt. Joseph Richardson as his motorcade passes through the City of Humboldt. Richardson's body is scheduled to arrive in Fort Dodge on Friday at 10 a.m. His motorcade is expected to pass through Humboldt on Highway 169 between 10:45 a.m. and noon. The motorcade will be traveling to Algona, where his visitation and funeral services will be held. Albrecht says that anyone in the area is welcome to attend a gathering along the highway in the vicinity of the Humboldt High School to honor Richardson. People can park along the shoulders of the highway. Richardson is an Algona native who died fighting with the United States Army in Afghanistan. The 23-year-old was killed after sustaining injuries when enemy forces attacked his unit in the Paktika province of Afghanistan on Nov. 16. He has several family members that live in the Humboldt County area. Visitation for Richardson will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Home of Algona. Funeral services will be on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona.
