Clinic, hospital to look for new physician

The Trimark Physicians Group and Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) will be looking for a new family practice physician, it was reported at Monday’s HCMH Board of Trustees meeting. Dr. Theo Barley will be resigning from the clinic later this year, to pursue a practice opportunity in Clarinda, HCMH Chief Executive Officer Jim Atty told the board. Barley has practiced in Humboldt for the past 2-1/2 years. He grew up in the African nation of Chad and did not attend school until the age of 12. He met a U.S. missionary, who helped him attend a church school and he sold Bibles and other books to raise enough money to eventually attend the University of Alabama, earning his nursing degree and later was able to obtain his medical degree in 2005. Atty said he doesn’t know the date Barley will be leaving Humboldt, but it could be sometime in June. Atty said Trimark in cooperation with the Trinity Regional Health System, is working on physician recruitment.
