Wildcat soccer team falls to Storm Lake, 5-4

Humboldt's varsity soccer team went toe-to-toe with ranked Storm Lake for over 80 minutes and beyond, but ended up on the short end of a 5-4 shootout in Humboldt Tuesday night (April 16). The loss dropped the Wildcats' season record to 1-2.The two teams went scoreless after 80 minutes of play and then were scoreless after two periods before a spot kick shootout took place to determine the winner. Storm Lake made all five of their kicks while Humboldt had four to determine the outcome. Scoring for Humboldt was Matt Pogge, Nick Heider, Craig Fishel and Joe Hadar.Humboldt plays host to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Thursday, April 18 at 5 p.m.See the Independent for complete story and photos.
