St. Edmond rallies past HHS girls, 3-2
Fort Dodge St. Edmond scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th inning to upend Humboldt, 3-2 in a classic North Central Conference softball showdown in Humboldt Monday night (July 1). Humboldt loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th but were unable to get the key hit needed. Humboldt falls to 17-9 overall on the season, 8-6 in conference play.Humboldt collected eight hits and Avery Terwilliger pitched a 6-hitter to lead the Wildcat softball team to a 5-4 victory at Eagle Grove Friday night (June 28). Humboldt's Sarah Peters and Terwilliger each had 2 hits for the Wildcats.Humboldt suffered a 9-2 loss at Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday night (June 27). Courtney Benjamin made 2 hits to lead Humboldt's 3-hit attack.Humboldt posted a 6-0 shutout victory at Pocahontas Tuesday night (June 25) in non-conference play. Avery Terwilliger pitched a 2-hitter and Humboldt made 8 hits at the plate as Sam Kirby and Avery Terwilliger each had two hits for the Wildcats.TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS ANNOUNCEDClass 4A Regional tournament pairings have been announced and Humboldt will play host to Spencer on Thursday, July 11, 7 p.m. The winner will play LeMars at LeMars on July 13 at 7 p.m. The other half of the regional has Sioux City Heelan meeting Storm Lake at Storm Lake with the winner playing at Denison against Denison-Schleswig.
