The Holstes on parade

Everyone loves a parade. The people of Humboldt were able to enjoy one of the best to snake down its streets on July 4. Not only did the parade celebrate the birth of the nation, it also commemorated the 150 years of Humboldt’s history. Riding in the lead car and waving at their many friends that lined the parade route were Grand Marshals Daniel and Jean Holste. The Holstes were dressed in attire appropriate to the early years in Humboldt. In mid-June, Susan Rutz informed the Holstes that they had been chosen to head this important parade. “You’ve both been in the community for many years. You’ve touched many lives through the school, the library, and your community involvement,” said Rutz. “We were so honored to be asked to be Grand Marshals of the sesquicentennial celebration,” said Jean.
