Humboldt youth injured in pedestrian/pickup accident
A pickup/pedestrian traffic accident Sunday afternoon in Humboldt caused serious injuries to an 8-year-old Humboldt boy. According to a report from Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kyle Kluender, Colton J. Hardgrove, 8, Humboldt, was struck by a pickup truck while running across Highway 3 just east of the intersection with 11th Street North. Hardgrove was transported by Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) Ambulance to the emergency room at HCMH and was air lifted by Life Flight helicopter to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. He reportedly is being treated for a broken shoulder bone and broken bones to the face and head. The accident occurred Sunday, July 28, at 2:50 p.m. No charges were filed in connection with the accident.
