Fareway store raises funds for Honor Flight

Fareway Store in Humboldt raised $2,401 for the upcoming Brushy Creek Honor Flight scheduled next month. The proceeds came from an outdoor meal the store served to the public on Aug. 2. Humboldt County Farm Bureau was on hand to help make the burgers. “We served a hamburger, chips and drink for a freewill donation, and the turnout from the community was great,” Fareway Store manager Todd Treganza said. “The community really supported the program and we had a lot of help. The city let us use flags and picnic tables. The beverage vendors donated a lot of pop. Frito Lay Company donated potato chips. Farm Bureau prepared the burgers. Fareway donated the buns,” Treganza said. “ “Because of the support, we will be able to send four veterans to the memorial in Washington, D.C., next month,” Treganza said. “We thank Todd and Fareway for setting up the event and for Farm Bureau for all of its help. This will help pay for four of the 16 veterans we have going on the next flight,” said Daryl Long, treasurer of the Humboldt County Chapter of the Brushy Creek Honor Flight.
