No. 5 Lions hand No. 6 Wildcats 1st loss, 35-25

No. 6 ranked Humboldt suffered its first loss of the 2013 football season at Clear Lake Friday night (Sept. 27). The No. 6 ranked Lions opened with a 28-7 halftime lead and held off a second half charge by the Wildcats for a 35-25 victory over the Wildcats. Clear Lake improved to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in Class 3A District 3. Humboldt slipped to 4-1 overall, 2-1 in district play.Brady Ross rushed 24 times for 183 yards and scored three touchdowns, two on the ground on runs of 12 and 37 yards, and another, a 25-yard pass catch from Jaxon Heinz. Alex Nelson returned a fumble 41 yards for a score to account for Humboldt's scoring.The Wildcats will return home Friday, Oct. 4, to host Waverly-Shell Rock in another district contest.
