Dakota Heights Addition adds country living in town

What has served as timber, hay ground and a few tillable acres at the southeast edge of Dakota City, will soon be undergoing a new use. This Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m., there will be an auction for 13 parcels in the newly formed Dakota Heights Addition in Dakota City. While the need for more housing in the county has been the catalyst for the new development, it’s something that owner Gary Vinsand of Gilmore City has been thinking about for some time. “My parents bought the farm ground in 1969, and my brothers and I have farmed it for several years,” Vinsand said. There are 13 lots in the 14.1-acre parcel, ranging in size from 1.21 acres to .41 of an acre. Two of the lots are south of the newly established Dakota Heights Drive city street that will run in a V-shaped fashion around the new development. This Sunday's auction will take place at Hundertmark Auction Service, 2032 13th St. N., Humboldt. A map of the site can be found in the digital editions of this week's Independent and Reminder.
