New businesses add to economic growth in county
What’s new in the county was the main topic of discussion during Monday’s Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting. The board heard about what’s new in county economic development from Humboldt County Development Association (HCDA) Director Alissa Reinholdt. Reinholdt reported on the two big projects HCDA has been working on this past year, the Precision Tank and Equipment plant in the city’s Northwest Industrial Park, and the new Bomgaars store being constructed in the Humboldt Business Park. Reinholdt reported that the two projects will bring in more than $6 million in capital investment to Humboldt County and more than $4 million in additional property tax valuation in just one year. She said the Precision Tank and Equipment project began more than two years ago and resurfaced this past February. Ground was broken this past summer on the $3.6 million project which will include a 35,000 square foot building and 14 employees. Reinholdt said the additional estimated taxable valuation will be $2.4 million. She said construction on the Precision Tank and Equipment plant should be completed in March with the plant in full operation by late spring or early summer. The Bomgaars building will take up three lots in the northwest corner of the Humboldt Business Park. Combined with the joint-HCDA speculative building, the development will complete the first phase of the new commercial/industrial business park. The 30,000 square foot Bomgaars building will be a $2.5 million project, with an estimated $2 million in additional taxable valuation. All of the current Bomgaars employees will be retained with a possibility for future growth.
