Area players earn all-conference, all-state honors

Humboldt High junior Jaxon Heinz leads a contingent of four Wildcat boys' basketball players who received post-season recognition.Heinz, a three-year starting point guard, was named 3rd-team all-state in Class 3A by the Iowa Newspaper Association and was also a unanimous first-team All-North Central Conference pick by league coaches. Humboldt senior center Jack Curran and junior forward Brady Ross were both selected to the All-NCC second-team unit while junior forward Austin Zylstra was named to the All-NCC third-team.The foursome helped lead the Wildcats to the state tournament, where they were eliminated in the opening round. Humboldt finished the year 16-8 overall. They were 12-6 and runner-up in the NCC standings.See complete story in the Humboldt Independent Newspaper.
