HUMBOLDT BOYS ADVANCE TO STATE GOLF!!!!

The Humboldt High School boys' golf team is back to the state tournament!The Wildcats, who last placed third in the Class 3A state meet two years ago, earned another trip to state after placing first in the team scoring of the district at Carroll on Friday (May 23). Humboldt shot a 307 total to edge defending state champion Creston, which totaled 308. Harlan was third at 309, followed by Atlantic at 315 and Spencer with 324.The Wildcats were paced by Austen Gargano and Christian Birdsell who each fired a 76. Casey Kayser shot a 77 and Jaxon Heinz 78. Andy Nelson had a non-counting 83 and Brenden Schnell 94.Ross Martens of Harlan was the top individual with a one-over-par 72.The state meet will be played on Friday/Saturday, May 30-31, at Ames.See complete story in the Humboldt Independent Newspaper.
