Enrollment numbers look steady for HCSD

It was good news for Humboldt’s student enrollment numbers as reported at Monday night's Humboldt Board of Education meeting. Numbers are projected to remain stable and grow slightly in the coming years. Humboldt School Superintendent Greg Darling presented figures on enrollment, which indicate Humboldt’s head count is expected to decline by one next year. Enrollment has been up in five of the last six years. It is projected to increase by 10 students in two years and by 15 students three years down the road. The district’s enrollment is currently at 1,400 students. “It looks like we won’t see any dramatic changes in our enrollment,” Darling said. “When you look around the area, there is economic development going on with some more businesses coming here and increased affordable housing.” To find out everything that's happening at the local schools, subscribe to The Humboldt Independent by clicking on the Subscribe Today link at the top of the page.
